Trails of Participation

Selected from 550 proposals across Europe by MitOst's Civic Europe fund, Trails of Participation asked an unfashionable question: who actually makes the decisions about a forest, and could young people have a voice in those decisions if they were given the tools?

Over 30 months we ran listening campaigns, public debates and design workshops with 750+ residents of the Lago d'Orta area. The project produced concrete proposals for local forest governance — and several young participants are now sitting on the relevant municipal commissions.
